Misericordia University baseball coach Pete Egbert has been named the American Baseball Coaches Association ATEC 2023 Region IV Coach of the Year.
Egbert led the Cougars to a 40-15 record and a trip to the NCAA D-III World Series.
The Cougars finished seventh in the d3baseball.com rankings and were eighth in the Collegiate Baseball/ABCA poll.
Misericordia won the NCAA Regional title and the NCAA Super Regional championship.
The Cougars set an NCAA (all divisions) single-season record  with 163 hit-by-pitches and ranked among the top 15 teams in the nation in stolen bases (157), runs (477), on-base percentage (.447), hits (570) and walks (256).
In his 21st season as a head coach, including 16 at Misericordia, Egbert owns a career record of 556-319-2.
The ABCA/ATEC Regional and National Coaches of the Year are selected by members of the ABCA All-America & Coach of the Year committees in all nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division and high school.
