The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a Freedom Conference doubleheader at DeSales, 13-3, 8-2, Saturday.
Nate Newman had two hits and an RBI in the opener and
Jeff Slanovec had an RBI single.
MU took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but didn't score again.
Mike Murphy and
Mike D'Amara opened the game with back-to-back walks and Newman and Slanovec sandwiched run-scoring singles around a
Brandon Calafut walk.
Slanovec,
Jamie Philippi and
Andrew Yasinski had MU's only hits in the second game.
MU took a 2-1 lead in the fifth when Slanovec and Philippi singled and Slanovec came around to score on a throwing error. After a Yasinski single, Philippi scored on
Andrew Goncalves' squeeze bunt.
DeSales tied it with a run in the bottom of fifth and added six runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
Misericordia, 11-11/0-4, will visit King's, Wednesday.
