The Misericordia University baseball team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 27-12 win at Eastern.
Mike D'Amara and
Mike Murphy combined for nine hits to pace a 21-hit attack and
Rob Albertson and
Nick Kauffman combined for 11 RBI.
Albertson had two hits and six RBI while Kauffman had two hits and drove in five runs.
D'Amara and
Nate Newman both scored five runs.
MU jumped in front with a seven-run first inning, highlighted by Albertson's grand slam.
The Cougars built a 16-0 lead in the fourth before Eastern tallied seven times in the bottom of the fourth.
Eastern added six runs in the seventh to get within 18-15, but Misericordia put the game away with an eight-run ninth.
Brandon Calafut, Jamie Philippi and Newman all added two hits.
Brandon Neumann worked 2.2 innings of relief to pick up the win.
The Cougars improved to 21-16 overall to tie the school single-season NCAA-era record for wins in a season. They are 7-7 and will visit Manhattanville for a Freedom doubleheader, Saturday.
