Cougars Fall Late at King's

The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team lost 11-7 to King's, Wednesday evening.
 
Andrew Reynolds and Sean McGuigan scored three goals each and Patrick Johnson made 11 saves in goal, but MU couldn't stop the Monarchs late scoring rush.
 
Just 26 seconds into the game, Reynolds beat the goalie short side to take an early 1-0 lead.  King's responded with two goals to go up by one with 8:30 left in the first quarter.
 
Patrick Johnson made two saves to keep MU within a goal, and Patrick McTague found Nick Santillo in the front of the net who turned and scored to tie the game at 2.  King's responded with a goal to go up by one at the end of the first quarter.
 
Andrew Reynolds found the back of the net after a Monarchs' turnover and McGuigan scored from the right side to bring the game to 4-4.
 
With King's applying offensive pressure, Johnson made two quick saves to keep the game knotted at four.
 
After the Cougars killed a penalty, Jared Hunt intercepted a pass and McTague ripped a shot down low but it was saved to keep the scored tied at four going into the half.
 
After King's won the opening face-off in the third quarter, Johnson stuffed a shot from the left wing to keep the game tied.  The Monarchs' got off another shot but Johnson stood tall and made another save.
 
With the Monarchs threatening, Johnson made a save with his mask to spoil the scoring chance.
 
While King's was a man-up, Drew Abatangelo intercepted a pass and cleared the ball to kill the penalty.  On the ensuing possession, J.R. Lauri found McGuigan on the right wing who buried a shot to give MU their first lead,5-4, since the first quarter.
 
Late in the third quarter, Reynolds curled out from behind the net and bounced a shot past the goalie to go up, 6-5 after three quarters.
 
In the fourth quarter, McGuigan found the back of the net off a Sean Forsyth pass, but King's scored six unanswered to secure the win.
 
The Cougars are now 11-3 (2-2) and will play at Eastern on Saturday.
