Box Score Kyle Calabro notched his 100
th career point as the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team continued its best start in program history by pulling away for a 10-6 victory over Hood on Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Calabro, who led the Cougars with three goals and two assists, became the second MU player to reach the career 100-point mark this season after JR Lauri did so during the Cougars' season-opener against Centenary. Lauri and
Trevor Bodnar each added two goals.
MU (3-0) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first four minutes on a pair of goals from Calabro and one from Lauri.

The Blazers came out firing in the second quarter, as Chris Wilbur and Mike Higgs each scored in the first three minutes of the period to close within one goal at 5-4. Lauri would respond with his second goal of the day to extend the MU lead back to two and Bodnar added one off a Josh Schwartz assist before a Brandon McCormick goal with just over a minute remaining in the half sent the Blazers into the locker room trailing 7-5.
Defense was the story of the second half, as the two teams combined for just four goals after the break. Bodnar's second goal would give the Cougars an 8-5 lead that they would hold for most of the third quarter, but Hood's Cody Mai would cut the MU lead back to just two with 1:23 left in the period on a goal from Adam Patterson.
The fourth quarter was all MU, however, as
Sean Forsyth recorded his first goal of the season on a Calabro feed just a minute in to push the Cougar lead back to three at 9-6. Calabro added his third goal of the game with 34 seconds remaining to close the scoring.
Patrick Johnson earned the victory in goal for the Cougars, allowing five goals and posting four saves in 30 minutes of action while
Josh Shanker allowed just one goal and posted six saves during the second half.
